- The Justice Society of America was created by writer Gardner Fox and editor Sheldon Mayer. They debuted as a team in the pages of All-Star Comics #3 in December of 1940. They have maintained a presence in nearly every major continuity paradigm throughout DC's publishing history including the Golden Age era (retroactively attributed to the Earth-Two reality), the Silver Age era, the Post-Crisis continuity, which ran from 1986 to 2011 and the "New 52" company-wide continuity reboot.
- This issue includes a house-ad for the Super Powers Collection action figure series by Kenner.
- This issue includes an ad for a free reprint copy of Detective Comics #27 sponsored by Newton's Fruit Chewy Cookies.
- This issue includes a house ad for the Jemm, Son of Saturn comic book limited series.

- Batman and Robin have a chance encounter with actor Robert Cummings. Robin makes reference to one of Cummings' films, The Devil and Miss Jones, released in April, 1941.
- Green Lantern and Hourman leave the Justice Society of America following their battle with Ian Karkull.
