"The Brain Machine" is the title to the first vignette from the first episode of the All-New Super Friends Hour animated television series by Hanna-Barbera Productions. The series is based on characters featured in comic books published by DC Comics. The episode was directed by Charles A. Nichols with a story crafted by an ensemble team consisting of Dick Conway, Willie Gilbert, Owen Harris, Elana Lesser, Duane Poole, Dick Robbins, Cliff Ruby and John Strong. - This is the first, and to date, the only known appearance of Doctor Cranum. With a name like that, you know that he was destined to become a super-villain with an over-sized head.

- This is the first appearance of Metropolis Institute of Technology. It is an analog for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which is an actual school.
- This is the first appearance of Metro World Amusement Park.
- Doctor Cranum's laboratory is located on the outskirts of Gotham City.
- What Doctor Cranum refers to as mental telepathy is actually a form of remote viewing.
