Aliens is a film franchise developed by 20th Century Fox Productions and Brandywine Productions. Beginning with 1979's seminal classic Alien, the series has spawned three sequels, two crossover films and numerous multimedia projects. Dark Horse Comics licensed the rights to produce comic book stories based on the Aliens mythos in 1988 beginning with the 1988 six-issue limited series Aliens. In addition to the multitudinous comic titles that have been published over the years, Dark Horse also published many one-shot specials that take place in the setting of the series, most of which introduce characters and locations unique to the comics, but all of which embody humanity's struggle to survive against the predatory xenomorph aliens.
