Alien invasion films are movies where extraterrestrials from another planet have come to Earth to eff your shit up! We ain't talking no cutesy little candy-eating E.T.s with big heads or wise-cracking talking ducks. Nope. These are serious aliens that mean serious business. And since they usually arrive via spacecraft of some kind, that means that their technology is vastly superior to ours. Salvation often comes in the most unlikely forms at times though. Sometimes you may have to rely on drunk trailer trash or a nerdy data analyst, or Tom Cruise or some retired World War II Navy veterans manning the cannons of the U.S.S. Missouri. The grand nature and strategy of a massive alien incursion can be summed up in the immortal words of the great Martian commander from Mars Attacks!, who very stoically intoned, "ACK-Ack!"
