The Alacritous Missive was a Systems Commonwealth courier ship. A civilian ship, it was constructed at Vedran Shipyards and was known for it's speed and maneuverability. It was used to transport communiques, light cargo and passengers across the Commonwealth territories in an efficient and expeditious fashion. In CY 9784, the Alacritous Missive was used by the Nietzscheans to bait the Commonwealth High Guard into a trap. The pilot of the Missive transmitted a distress call from the Hephaistos System, which was picked up by the High Guard starship the Andromeda Ascendant. The pilot warned Captain Dylan Hunt about a rogue black hole that had emerged near Hephaistos IV. When the Andromeda entered slipstream and arrived in the system, 10,000 Nietzschean ships were waiting to ambush them. This conflict became known as the Battle of Hephaistos. The Alacritous Missive 's fate following the Battle of Hephaistos remains unclear.
