Air Force One is the call-sign used for the aircraft used to transport the President of the United States and his cabinet. The airplane was commissioned by the United States Air Force. The concept of a personal transport for the President goes back to the 1940s with Franklin Delano Roosevelt wherein a C-54 Skymaster called The Sacred Cow transported him to the Yalta Conference. The call sign Air Force One was not put into use until 1953 under the Eisenhower administration.
