Renegade mutants Dazzler, Velocidad and Angel are scurrying through the sewers of Manhattan trying to evade capture. Velocidad is excited to get to Fortress X where they will be able to use their powers uninhibited. A magic blast illuminates the alley incinerating Velocidad. Dazzler and Angel Salvadore turn to see Doctor Strange, flanked by a squadron of Exonim soldiers. Strange has the soldiers open fire and Angel is disintegrated in a blast of light. Dazzler keeps running and nearly makes it to a gate, but Strange blocks her with the Crimson Bands of Cytorrak.
Sometime later, Dazzler awakens to find herself at Fortress X. Velocidad and Angel are at her bedside and reveal that the attack was all a ruse. Doctor Strange is actually one of the good guys and used his powers to teleport them all to safety while making it seem as if he had killed them.
