"Age of X" is the title of a multi-part crossover comic book story relating to the X-Men family of comic book titles. The storyline ran for six chapters and three spin-off from January-April, 2011 beginning with Age of X: Alpha and culminating with the two-part limited series Age of X Universe. The actual chapters ran through two issues of X-Men: Legacy and two chapters of New Mutants, Volume 4.
The storyline takes place in an alternate reality where mutants are on the verge of distinction, taking sanctuary inside of Fortress X. The United States government still sees Mutants, as well as their offspring, as a clear and viable threat and the Human Coalition makes it their business to insure that no suspected mutant is safe.
