- According to DC Releases #23, this issue shipped to retailers on October 1st, 1986.
- Superman was created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster. He first appeared in Action Comics #1 in June, 1938 in a story called "Superman, Champion of the Opressed".
- This issue includes the "Action Reaction" letters column.
- The events of this issue is set during a brief period of time when elements of Earth-One continuity still existed in the Post-Crisis environment, which ended when the reality altering effects of "Crisis on Infinite Earths" caught up with the timeline.
- This is the final appearance of Maxwell Jensen, aka the Parasite. His existence is removed from continuity following the events of "Crisis on Infinite Earths". His character is replaced by Rudy Jones, who becomes the new Parasite in Firestorm, Volume 2 #58 in April, 1987.
