Notes & Trivia[]
- This issue shipped in late November, 1963 - only one week after the assassination of U.S. president John F. Kennedy. As Kennedy is the mystery guest star in this issue, this caused a small measure of controversy. DC Comics immediately recalled the issue, but there were already too many copies in circulation.
- This issue reveals that Supergirl's parents, Allura In-Ze and Zor-El are still alive and are existing in the Survival Zone.
- This is the first appearance of the Survival Zone, which is a counterpart to the Phantom Zone.
- This is the first in-continuity of appearance of Allura In-Ze, who also appears in a dream sequence. Prior to this issue, she has only appeared in flashback.
- This is the first in-continuity of appearance of Zor-El, who also appears in a dream sequence. Prior to this issue, he has only appeared in flashback.
