Aberrance City is a fictional location featured in comic books published by DC Comics under their Vertigo publishing brand. It first appeared at the very end of American Freak: A Tale of the Un-Men #5 in June, 1994 in a story called "The Dark Family".

Description[]

Aberrance City was originally established on the site of an old abandoned nuclear testing ground. Following a senate subcommittee hearing relating to illegal scientific experimentation taking place at Lafayette Air Base in Louisiana, the government decided to show kindness towards the aberrations the facility created by granting them this swatch of land as a reservation. Although the site served as something of a sanctuary for these so-called "Un-Men", it also became a refuge for those who felt like "freaks" on the inside, as well as on the outside. One of the residents was neophyte Un-Man Damien Kane. Damien erected a grave for his fallen ally Scylla, who was shot to death by U.S. Army guards during the Un-Men's final stand against the military.
