It took on a larger role at the Battle of Endor in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

History[]

The All Terrain Scout Transport is a bipedal combat walker vehicle developed by Kuat Drive Yards for use by the First Galactic Empire. It was encased with high-grade durasteel and consisted of a pilot and a gunner. Its weaponry included a starboard concussion grenade launcher and a port-side E-web twin blaster, as well as a chin-mounted double blaster cannon.

Deployment[]

Modified AT-STs were used by Blizzard Force during the Battle of Hoth in 3 ABY. They were deployed as a supplement to the large AT-AT assault force used to disable the ion cannons used by the Rebel Alliance at Echo Base.

Several AT-STs were deployed for the ground assault at the Battle of Endor, wherein the Rebel Alliance attempted to sabotage a shield generator bunker. Despite being described a "all terrain" vehicles, the AT-STs had difficulty with the terrain during this campaign as enemy forces used the environment to their advantage, creating trip hazards with rolling logs and various other traps. One Rebel, Chewbacca, as well as a few native Ewoks managed to hijack one AT-ST and used it to destroy another.

Notes & Trivia[]

  • One variant of the standard AT-ST is the AT-ST/A, which was a heavily armored assualt vehicle that stood 10 meters tall and was armed with a heavy blaster cannon, a light blaster cannon and a concussion grenade launcher. It differed from the standard model in that it had heavier armor.
  • A similar vehicle is the All Terrain Personal Transport (AT-PT), which was similar in design, but only stood three meters and was used by a single pilot.
