Overview[]
Mentor is one of the Eternals of Titan and the administrator of his people on the moon of Titan. He is the son of the cosmic being known as Kronos and the husbnd of Sui-San. He has a brother named Zuras, who was the leader of the Earth-based Eternals. He is the father of Eros and Thanos - the first of whom went on to join the Avengers and the latter of which went on to become a galactic tyrant.
Biography[]
Mentor was the leader of the moon of Titan. He ruled the planet peacefully with and coordinated his efforts through the giant super-computer intelligence, ISAAC. Mentor's son, Thanos, wanted to establish a weapons-based militia on Titan, but Mentor refused. As such, Thanos betrayed his father and sought to take control of the moon.
Mentor monitored Thanos' activities, particularly when the mad Titan developed an interest in the planet Earth. When Thanos destroyed the vehicle carrying the Douglas family, Mentor rescued young Heather Douglas and brought her to Titan where she raised to become the powerful psionic known as Moondragon. With the aid of Kronos, Mentor gathered the residual psychic essence of Heather's late fatehr, Arthur Douglas, and re-incorporated it into a new body fashioned from the soil of the earth. The reborn Arthur Douglas became known as Drax the Destroyer and was Mentor's secret weapon against Thanos.
Through ISAAC, Mentor kept tabs on Drax's activity and monitored his mission to Earth where he assisted in helping the Earth hero Iron Man against Thanos' minions, the Blood Brothers. When the heroes were disabled, Mentor sent an electromagnetic pulse through space to Earth where it struck Iron Man, re-invigorating his armor's power reserves, and enblaing him to free Drax and defeat the Blood Brothers.
