"Wake-Up Call" is the first episode of season two of The 4400 and the sixth episode overall. Directed by Leslie Libman, it first aired on the USA Network on June 5th, 2005. This episode introduces the characters of Tess Doerner and Kevin Burkoff (played by Summer Glau and Jeffrey Combs respectively), who will remain as supporting characters throughout the duration of the series. In this episode, a year's worth of time has passed since the events in season one. Tom Baldwin returns to NTAC, but not as an active agent. Diana Skouris wades through a sea of inept partners until she finally reconnects with Tom and convinces him to become a field agent again. Additionally, she formally adopts Maia Rutledge. Meanwhile, Richard and Lily are still on the run from Jordan Collier and are doing their best to provide proper care for their newborn infant Isabelle.
