30 Days of Night was a three-issue comic book limited series published in 2002 by IDW Publishing. The series was written by author Steve Niles with painted artwork by Ben Templesmith. The series was lettered by Robbie Robbins and edited by Kris Oprisko. Cover illustrations were provided by Ashley Wood. All three issues were collected in hardcover and trade paperback graphic novel formats and were also included in the 30 Days of Night Trilogy hardcover collection. Two annual specials were published in 2004 and 2005. The series was adapted into the 30 Days of Night feature film in 2007. The premise of the series revolves around the small Alaskan town of Barrow. For thirty days out of every winter, the sun doesn't shine over the town, plunging the entire community into a month-long endless night. This proves to be a perfect feeding ground for a horde of vampires who no longer need to fear the fatal rays of the rising sun. Sheriff Eben Olemaun and his wife Stella have to find a way to protect their friends and survive the vicious vampire assault.
