Part One[]

It has been three years since Marlow Roderick brought his vampire brood to the north Alaskan town of Barrow for a mass feeding that left only nineteen survivors. Now, four days before the next month of sunless winter, Brian Kitka returns to the town of his birth as the new sheriff, along with his young son, Marcus.

Brian and Marcus move into the house once occupied by a former sheriff, Eben Olemaun, and his wife, Stella. Going to the mobile sheriff's office, he meets the town's sole deputy, Donna Sikorski. After dealing with his deputy's misplaced sense of humor, he goes ouside where he meets another survivor - grizzled trapper named John Ikos. Both Brian and John had family who were slaughtered during the vampire feeding. The two men converse with Donna and Donna gives Brian the journal of Eben Olemaun, which chronicled all of the mishaps from the previous event up until the time of his own demise.

John Ikos surprises both of them when he reveals the flayed corpses of two vampires that he found just beyond the ice ridge. He has no idea what could have happened to them.

Later, at the old Olemaun residence, Marcus is unpacking when he spots a black cat. He follows it into the attic where he finds a wedding album containing a photograph of Eben and Stella.

Part Four[]

Werner and his vampire horde remain just outside the perimeter of Barrow along the tree-line. They coordinate their strategy to take out the human settlement. Werner meets Agent Norris, who reveals a supply of firearms in the back of a pick-up truck. This gives the vampires even more of an edge, in addition to their enhanced sense and fangs.

A child vampire named Greta takes Werner aside and shows him the dismembered remains of two vampires. No one seems to know how the enemy could have gotten past them. The only to survive this particular assault is Dane, who tells Werner that the two deceased vampires traveled up with him from Kansas City. Norris takes an instant distrust to Dane and tells him that he cane smell the Olemaun woman's scent upon him.

Meanwhile, the human residents of Barrow, shore up their defenses. They man the towers, and keep in tight communication. However, now that the vampires are armed, they are able to systematically take down each of the watchtower stations. Once the towers are down, they ambush the barb wire fencing and attack the citizens. While John Ikos coordinates with the others to protect the back-up generators, Brian Kitka secures his son, Marcus, in the basement of the old Olemaun place.

Chaos continues to rage outside, and the odds are definitely in the vampires' favor. John Ikos cries out for someone to man the "big gun". Brian races out, and takes up the mounted machine gun and takes down an entire line of vampires. Those who aren't instantly killed retreat to regroup.

A short time later, and not far away, Agent Norris consults with another vampire who reveals that Stella Olemaun had taken up with a vampire, who served as her accomplice in destroying the vampire queen, Lilith. This gives Norris both the literal and figurative ammunition he needs to take down Dane. He draws his handgun and shoots Dane point-blank in the face, killing him. He turns and warns Werner that "something weird is going on around here".

Part Five[]

The citizens of Barrow remain crouched behind sandbags, while others ready their weapons to protect the generators. The line of vampires retain a safe distance behind the hill-line. Brian Kitka wonders why they won't attack, and John Ikos posits that they must be engaging upon a new strategy. John is correct in his assertion, as Agent Norris suggests a new game plan to Werner. Suddenly, all of the vampires seem to disappear. Ikos grows more anxious, and Brian returns to his house to gather up a grenade.

The vampires continue to wait things out, as the people of Barrow grow weary from lack of sleep. Suddenly, and without warning, the vampires attack. They hit the guard towers to take out the lights. One of the men, Kenny, uses a UV light to fry Greta. Werner immediately pounces on Kenny and kills him. John tries to get Kenny on the walkie talkie, but Werner picks it up. He tells John that he will have vengeance for those that John and his people have killed.

Another vampire springs up and takes out a man and woman who are guarding Generator 3. Those nearby react instantly, and begin wildly shooting into the night, without any idea where the next attack may be coming from. A man named Tom radios for reinforcements, but is overwhelmed by vampires. Again... and without warning, the vampires attacking the man suddenly disappear. Before him on the ground lies the bloody ruins of what had once been his attackers. He is lost for an explanation.

As the vampires continue to conduct surgical strikes against the perimeter, Brian grows concerned for his son, Marcus, and races back towards his house. John reconnects with Donna Sikorski and coordinates operations with her squad. Meanwhile, Agent Norris reaches the Kitka house first.

Part Six[]

John Ikos mans a heavy machine gun and opens fire on the line of vampires advancing towards his squad. He warns his team to stop them from reaching the fence, but Donna Sikorski cries that there are too many of them. John tells another squad member to forget the gun belt and pick up a rifle. One of their number, Korey, goes down as he is shot in the head by an armed vampire.

Meanwhile, Agent Norris walks inside the seemingly empty home of former residents Eben and Stella Olemaun. He spies a black cat, which he kicks, then places his palms on a wall - knowing that somebody is hiding behind it. It is Marcus Kitka, Brian's young son. Norris hisses that Marcus is "going to die very soon". Norris tears the wall down, exposing Marcus' hiding spot. Suddenly, a female vampire appears behind Norris. She whispers "Hello" and "Good-bye", then rips Norris' throat out. Brian Kitka is outside racing towards the house. He stops when he sees Norris' body crashing through the wall. He triggers the hand grenade he had been carrying it and drops it. The explosion finishes Norris off. Brian takes up his handgun and fires at the other vampires outside the house, but they outnumber him. While changing his ammunition, something decimates the vampires, leaving behind only bloody severed limbs. He rushes into the house to find that Marcus is safe. He tells his father that the "lady in the picture" saved him.

Meanwhile, John Ikos, Donna Sikorski, and the others hold the line. Donna gets tagged in the shoulder with a bullet, and runs out of ammo. Werner appears before her, ready to kill. John Ikos approaches from behind and attacks Werner. The vampire turns around and shouts "You dare!", to which Ikos replies, "Yeah. I fucking dare". Werner lunges, and Ikos counters by hurling his hunting knife at him, which strikes the vampire in the middle of the forehead, killing him. John then checks on Donna, who unexpectedly kisses him.

By this point, the survivors of Barrow begin to take notice of the fact that all of the vampires are gone. They have either been torn apart, or have fled. The citizens begin the arduous task of cleaning up their town, burying their dead, and tending to the injured.

John Ikos goes to the Olemaun house and finds Brian and Marcus safe and sound. His eyes grow wide as Eben Olemaun and Stella Olemaun - vampires both, emerge from the shadows. They are the ones who have been conducting hit and run tactics against the vampires. Stella tells John, "Nobody will ever hurt this town again. We will always be watching over you". They silently turn, and disappear back into the shadows.
