History[]

2394 Venice Boulevard is a private residence located in Venice Beach, California. Many years ago, it was the home of journalist Buck Cowan. Buck had met a teenager named Jack Russell who was searching for a mystic grimoire known as the Darkhold. Buck agreed to help Jack and they located the Darkhold in the castle keep of Miles Blackgar and his daughter Marlene. The Blackgars were not willing to simply hand such a powerful book over to them and they were forced to steal it.

They brought the Darkhold back to Buck's home where they attempted to transcribe its passages, many of which were written in Latin. Marlene Blackgar coerced Jack's sister, Lissa Russell, into giving her the location of Buck’s home. Along with her invalid father and her henchman Strug, they broke into the house and attacked them. Strug knocked Jack Russell unconscious while Marlene held Buck and Lissa at gunpoint, ultimately tying them up to a chair. They searched the house for the Darkhold, but were unable to find it.

When Jack came to, he transformed into a werewolf and attacked Strug. Marlene tried shooting him, but accidentally hit her servant instead. She then employed her own mutant powers to turn living creatures into stone with one look from her eyes, but her power reflected off a standing mirror, turning both her father and she into immobile stone statues. Jack revealed to Buck that he had hidden the Darkhold inside a box of Corn Flakes. [1]

Jack's home life was growing increasingly difficult, particularly with the mounting tension developing between his stepfather Philip and he. Jack left hom and moved in with Buck for a time. [2]
