1149 is the forty-ninth year of the twelfth century. In Spain, a hunchbacked member of the church named Aelfric, turned away from Christianity and began exploring the Dark Arts. Embracing Satanism, Aelfric began re-assembling ancient lost scrolls written by the elder god Chthon, and bound them into a text which came to be known as the Darkhold. When the other monks from the Abbey of St. Michael discovered Aelfric's actions, they banished him from the premises. He was driven out into the street and pursued by a lynch mob, who burned him at the stake. (Werewolf by Night 3)
